America has to directly participate in solving the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated by the former representative of US Pentagon Michael Carpenter during the Senate meeting, reports Radio Svoboda.

Washington has to increase military assistance for Kyiv, according to Carpenter.

“We have to expand our military training programs and provide necessary defensive weapons to Ukraine. On diplomatic level, the USA has to stop delegating power to Germany and France and directly participate in developing the road map for Minsk agreements implementation,” Carpenter said.

“This road map has to set a date until which the agreements have to be fulfilled and consequences for breaking the terms. To strengthen the levers of pressure, America has to unilaterally tighten financial sanctions if Russia does not adhere to these criteria,” he noted.

Earlier it was reported that US Congress proposes to give Ukraine $150 mln for defense. According to the text of the document, it is planned to transfer funds before September 30, 2017.
