The U.S has introduced the sanctions against seven persons and four entities that are part of the foreign influence network tied with Russia and Andriy Derkach as the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv reported.

Andriy Derkach was designated on September 10, 2020, pursuant to Executive Order (E.O.) 13848, for his attempt to influence the 2020 U.S. presidential election. Derkach is the Ukrainian MP and he is an active Russian agent for over 10 years and he maintains a close liaison with the Russian special services.

“Russian disinformation campaigns targeting American citizens are a threat to our democracy. The United States will continue to aggressively defend the integrity of our election systems and processes,” Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin said as the U.S. Department of the Treasury reported.

Former Ukrainian Government officials Konstantin Kulyk, Oleksandr Onyshchenko, Andriy Telizhenko, and current Ukraine Member of Parliament Oleksandr Dubinsky have publicly appeared or affiliated themselves with Derkach through the coordinated dissemination and promotion of fraudulent and unsubstantiated allegations involving a U.S. political candidate. They have made repeated public statements to advance disinformation narratives that U.S. government officials have engaged in corrupt dealings in Ukraine. These efforts are consistent with and in support of Derkach’s efforts, acting as an agent of the Russian intelligence services, to influence the 2020 U.S. Presidential election.

NabuLeaks, Era-Media TOV, Only News and Skeptik TOV are media front companies in Ukraine that push false narratives at Derkach’s behest. The media are being designated pursuant to E.O. 13848 for being owned or controlled by Derkach. The sanctions also concern Petro Zhuravel, Dmytro Kovalchuk and Anton Simonenko as they assisted, sponsored or provided financial, material or technological support for, or goods or services to or in support of, Derkach.

On May 19, 2020, non-affiliated MP Andriy Derkach published a few audio records of the talk of then ex-president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and U.S. Vice President Joe Biden and Head of the U.S. State Department John Kerry. According to the MP, they may witness the influence of Joe Biden on Petro Poroshenko.
