U.S. inspection team to visit Ukraine

Multinational inspection group from the USA consisting of nine people will reside in Ukraine to fulfill international obligations under the control of conventional arms on March 19-23, 2018 in Ukraine

U.S. inspection team is to visit Ukraine to control the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) implementation, as Ukraine’s Armed Forces General Staff wrote on Facebook.

“Multinational inspection group from USA consisting of nine people will reside in Ukraine to fulfill international obligations under the control of conventional arms on March 19-23, 2018 in Ukraine. The group will conduct two inspections of places declared by CFE. Representatives of Romania and Poland will join the group,” the message says.

The General Staff reports that such measures have the following purpose – to control the amount of military equipment, covered by CFE, in Ukraine. Under the CFE conditions, the international inspection group will inform about the place of the first inspection after it arrives to the checkpoint – Dnipropetrovsk.

Earlier, 60 verification activities are conducted in Ukraine every year, nearly the same number of events is being conducted in other states. 107 such events were performed on the territory of Ukraine in 2017.

Earlier, the General Staff stated, that Russia can inspect Ukrainian military units on the East, but it have not announced such intentions.
