The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) imposed sanctions against Iranian oil tanker Adrian Darya 1 (previously Grace 1) and its Captain. This was reported on the official website of the USA Department of the Treasury.
"The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) took action today against Adrian Darya 1, an oil tanker transporting 2.1 million barrels of Iranian crude oil ultimately benefitting Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force (IRGC-QF)," the message says.
It is noted that the vehicle is defined as a blocked property according to the decree on counter-terrorism and those who support terrorism. Captain of the tanker Akhilesh Kumar is also affected by the sanctions.
"Vessels like Adrian Darya 1 enable the IRGC-QF to ship and transfer large volumes of oil, which they attempt to mask and sell illicitly to fund the regime’s malign activities and propagate terrorism," said Sigal Mandelker, the Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.
She added that everyone dealing with Adrian Darya 1 risks being sanctioned.
