U.S. Embassy in Kyiv urges to investigate the murders of the Ukrainian Truth Internet Edition Georgy Gongadze and journalist of the Ukrainian Truth Pavlo Sheremeta as well as other journalists. It is said in the official statement of the Embassy published on its Twitter page due to the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists.
"On this International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists, we stand with the Ukrainian people in calling for justice for the families of Georgiy Gongadze, Pavel Sheremet and other journalists who tragically lost their lives in courageous pursuit of the truth. We also call on Russia and the forces it backs to immediately release Ukrainian journalists unjustly detained for their work in eastern Ukraine and Crimea," reads the message.
Previously, the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv demanded Russia to set Stanislav Aseev free; as it is known, on October 22, the self-proclaimed "DNR" (Donetsk People's Republic) sentenced the Ukrainian reporter and publicist to 15 years behind the bars.
