US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis is to visit Kyiv on August 24, the Independence Day of Ukraine, as the U.S. Department of Defense informs.
According to the information, Mattis is to meet Petro Poroshenko, the president of Ukraine, and Stepan Poltorak, Ukraine’s Minister of Defence.
“During these engagements, the secretary will reassure our Ukrainian partners that the U.S. remains firmly committed to the goal of restoring Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as strengthening the strategic defense partnership between our two countries," the officials said.
Jim Mattis will also visit Jordan and Turkey.
