A delegation of the US Congress has arrived in Kyiv to discuss the accumulation of Russian troops near Ukraine as the US Embassy in Ukraine reported on Facebook.

“Representative Jason Crow led a U.S. Congressional delegation to Kyiv to discuss Russia’s aggressive military buildup in and around Ukraine and hear assessments from Ukrainian officials and military leadership,” the message says.

Crow and his colleagues, Representative Brad Wenstrup and Representative Rick Crawford assured the Ukrainian leadership that Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity and Euro-Atlantic course have bipartisan support in the US Congress.

As for the de-escalation of tensions caused by the transfer of Russian military forces to the Ukrainian border, the congressmen focused on the US commitment to a diplomatic solution to the problem. But when it comes to a military invasion by Russian troops, the delegation declared Washington's readiness to take tough measures in response to any encroachment on sovereign Ukrainian territory.

Besides, CNN reported that Ukrainian officials have made a request for new weapons from the United States, including Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems.
