From Monday, November 8, unvaccinated teachers and officials will be allowed to be fired from work in Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers stated in a resolution.

The document states that the management of government agencies, enterprises, institutions and organizations should remove from work employees who refuse to be vaccinated against Covid, but whose professions are included in the list of mandatory vaccinations.

However, this requirement does not apply to those who have absolute contraindications to vaccination against Covid and have an appropriate medical opinion.

Separately in the resolution it is said that at the time of removal payment is carried out taking into account Part 1 of Art. 94 of the Labor Code of Ukraine, Part 1 of Art. 1 of the Law "On Remuneration" and Part 3 of Art. 5 of the Law "On Civil Service". Dismissal is carried out by an appropriate order or instruction with mandatory notification to the employee.

As it was reported earlier, on October 7 Ukraine's Healthcare Ministry has approved the list of jobs where the workers are obliged to get vaccinated.

According to the law, the vaccination is compulsory for the following categories of people:

  • employees of the central governmental authorities and their territorial branches;
  • regional state administrations and their subdivisions;
  • workers of education institutions of all levels, regardless their kind of ownership.

The Kyiv District Administrative Court has opened a lawsuit against the order of the Ministry of Health on the list of professions for which coronavirus vaccination is defined as mandatory. The court scheduled a preparatory hearing for November 25.
