Son of MP Ihor Popov, Bohdan, was detained on the suspicion of robbing a shop in Kyiv, as Ukrainian News were told by their source in the law enforcement.

“Popov Bohdan, born in 2003, was detained,” the interlocutor said and added that the MP’s son and another individual robbed a grocery shop in the Obolon district of Kyiv.

Both have been detained and are currently at a police station. The case is investigated as a robbery.

MP Ihor Popov commented on the situation on his Facebook, saying that his son had got himself into bad company and committed an offense, without specifying which one.

“There’s trouble in my family. My 14-year-old son got into bad company and committed a grave offense. It’s my fault that I didn’t allocate enough time for his upbringing, didn’t supervise, didn’t warn. I ask for forgiveness of the victims, the society, my relatives, my wonderful team. Thank God, everyone is alive, there will be an investigation, and the culprits will bear responsibility without exception. And let this be a lesson for both my son and me,” he wrote.
