Political persecution by the Government and a threat of attacks against chairman of the political council of “Opposition Platform – For Life” Viktor Medvedchuk has got considerable international attention and caused condemnation from politicians, diplomats, and media, as “Opposition Platform – For Life” reported.
“On February 5, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Office announced the launch of criminal prosecution against one of the opposition leaders Viktor Medvedchuk. The reason is his call for direct dialogue between Kyiv and Donbas, provided in Minsk “Measures set”, and special status for Donbas as a part of Ukraine,” Russian Ambassador to UN Vasyl Nebenzya said on February 12 at the UN Security Council dedicated to the fourth anniversary of Minsk Agreements.
The representatives of the European Parliament condemned political persecution against Viktor Medvedchuk. David Coburn, William Darthmouth, Nathan Gill, Steven Woolfe, Jonathan Arnott – British MEPs, and Germany’s Arne Gericke made a stand for him.
