The General Assembly of the United Nations in New York holds a session to discuss the situation in the occupied territories of Ukraine. The Ukrainian delegation is headed by President Petro Poroshenko, who is on a working visit to the United States. The session was broadcasted on UNGA website.
According to the Deputy of the Head of the Presidential Administration, Poroshenko intends to remind everyone from “the highest rostrum in the world” once again about the Russian aggression, which includes not only military attacks but also humanitarian and ecological crimes.
“The trip also includes the meeting with the President of the United Nations General Assembly; the program is rather hectic as well. It will be a short one-day visit, as the President has to Poroshenkoreturn to Ukraine”, - Yelisieiev added.
Earlier, the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs of Ukraine summarized the events from the beginning of the aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine to the fifth anniversary of the aggression. According to the information, over 13,000 Ukrainian citizens were killed, 30,000 were wounded and 1.5 million were forced to become displaced people.
Russian aggression caused the mass destruction of Donbas, usurpation of the Ukrainian possessions on the occupied territories of Crimea, the mass violation of the international and humanitarian law, political harassment and intimidation of the Ukrainian people in order to suppress any anti-occupational views and to speed up the militarization process of the occupied peninsula.
