The movement of freight trains of Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian railways) is at the edge of the full stop due to the absence of fuel. The company suffers losses at the sum of 7.9 million hryvnias ($290,610) daily as Enkorr reported citing Head of Management Department of Railway Oleksandr Tkachenko.
“As of June 30, 59 freight trains left at the station track gages in the regional departments of Ukrzaliznytsia; 38 main and 85 shunting diesel locomotives were put on reserve of the railway management due to the absence of fuel; while the dynamics of growth of left trains and locomotives put on reserve due to the deficit of fuel grows exponentially,” he stated.
It is noted that only since June 30, the losses from the terminal time make7.9 million hryvnias ($290,610).
“Considering the absence of information toward the further steps of filling for regional departments of Ukrzaliznytsia, I ask to assume urgent measures to provide fuel, otherwise, it threatens with full stop of regional departments,” Tkachenko wrote.
In April, Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian railways) stated about the deficit of fuel. The rest amount of diesel was enough for four days due to the refusal of the suppliers to load out fuel on the contracts.
