Ukrtransgaz PJSC said the reason the company has financial difficulties is artificially lowered tariffs on gas transporting and crucial flaws of code on gas transportation system. This was reported by Naftogaz-Ukraine press service.
“For six months we have been talking about Ukrtransgaz becoming bankrupt due to artificially low tariffs and unauthorized gas selection. Unfortunately, the responsible authorities chose a strategy of ignoring bad news, and the situation has become critical,” the chairman of Naftogaz board Andriy Kobolev said.
He noted that Naftogaz supported Ukrtransgaz as long as it was possible because the company is the largest lender of Ukrtransgaz. However, according to Kobolev, there is no such opportunity anymore.
“We welcome the desire to establish those responsible for this inappropriate result. We are ready to provide all the necessary materials for analysis and discussion,” Kobolev added.
As it was reported on July 1, Naftogaz-Ukraine promised that gas price for industrial consumers will be reduced by 13%.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman stated that the government has to obligate Naftogaz Ukraine to reduce the gas price in June and July this year. The Cabinet of Ministers will appeal to Audit Chamber of the Anti-Monopoly Committee, State Fiscal Service for the inspection of gas prices formation.
