The Supervisory Board terminated the powers of the ousted head of Ukreximbank Yevhen Metzger, who recently got into a scandal with an attack on the journalists of the Schemes project during an interview as the bank’s Supervisory Board reported on Facebook.
"On October 11, 2021, during an extraordinary meeting of the nomination committee of the Supervisory Board of Ukreximbank JSC regarding possible measures (taking into account the work carried out by the Ethics Commission and the state of the official audit), a statement was received from Yevhen V. Metzger dated October 11, 2021, on the termination of an urgent an employment contract on their own initiative. The Nominating Committee, accordingly, provided an immediate recommendation to the Supervisory Board to terminate its powers from October 11, 2021, on the basis of Part 1 of Art. 39 of the Labor Code of Ukraine and the corresponding clause of the labor contract with Yevhen V. Metzger," the message says.
At the same time, it is specified that the payment of severance pay on these grounds is not provided.
Moreover, the Supervisory Board, after the dismissal of Metzger, instead of him, from October 12, appointed the acting head of the bank's board, Serhiy O. Yermakov. He will work in this position until the Supervisory Council elects the head of the bank's board based on the results of a competition, no later than April 12, 2022.
On October 4, reporters of the Schemes project were attacked in the office of Ukreximbank during the interview with the bank’s head Yevhen Metzger in his office. The bank employees used physical force against the Schemes cameraman, took away two cameras from him, and removed the recorded video.
Soon, the journalists of 'Schemes' project restored the video, which was destroyed by the employees of the financial institution on the orders of its head Yevhen Metzger. The Supervisory Board of the state-owned Ukreximbank announced the start of a check of the reports about attacks on Schemes journalists during an interview with the bank's management.
The President’s Office stood for suspension and dismissal of Yevhen Metzger. In his turn, Metzger wrote that he wrote a letter for suspension for the time of the investigation.
On October 8, Yevhen Metzger was handed charge papers due to the attack on the journalists of the Schemes program. He is suspected of illegal detention of people.
