Two representatives of our country - a man and a woman - became winners of the 23rd New Year's competition for running six kilometers, traditionally held in Nalenczow, Lublin province. This was reported by the Polish portal Onet.pl.
"Ukrainian Andriy Starzhynsky, who lives in Poland, became the first winner of the sports competitions in New Year, having won the 23rd New Year's competition for running a distance of six kilometers. The winner among women is also Ukrainian, - Irena Masny," the portal writes.
A total of 115 people who are not professionals participated in the race. They are well trained, so winning the competition is a matter of prestige.
A feature of this sporting event was that it began in 2017, and was completed in 2018.
Organizers specifically match the time so that athletes cross the middle point of the distance on the New Year.
As it was reported earlier Ukrainian biathletes Artem Pryma and Yulia Zhuravok claimed bronze in the single mixed relay event of IBU Cup; this particular stage of the Cup recently took place in Obertiliach, Austria.
