To obtain biometric passports, citizens with a residence permit in the occupied territories of the Donbas and Crimea need to provide additional documents for identification. This was announced by the spokesman of the ‘Document’ state enterprise Volodymyr Polishchuk on the air of Espresso.TV.

"A certain number of documents was lost during the events that occur there, there is no way to identify the person under Form 1. There is a Cabinet decision that recommends additional identification," Polishchuk said.

The official specified which documents need to be submitted additionally to confirm the identity.

"If you came to make a passport, you brought a passport of a citizen of Ukraine, an identification code, an old passport, we must ask for a birth certificate or a military ticket or other documents. Additional identification is done through other authorities and a biometric passport is issued, "he said.

Earlier it was reported that almost 2,000 Ukrainians crossed EU border under visa-free regime, according to State Border Guard. Over the first weekend since the regime took effect, most of the Ukrainian citizens entered the EU visa Polish checkpoints.
