Protest action in support of Ukraine took place in New York near the building where the UN Security Council had an emergency meeting on the escalation of the Russian aggression in Ukraine, as Voice of America reported.

“The protesters demanded the international community and the U.S. Government to support Ukraine and condemn Russia’s actions,” the message says.

Besides, the UN Security Council blocked Russia’s initiative to consider the question of “violation of borders”. Four members of the Council voted “for” the consideration, seven – “against” and four – “abstained”. Therefore, the question was removed from the discussion.

Official Kyiv summoned the UN Security Council after Russia attacked and seized three Ukrainian military ships.

As we reported earlier, the coast guard ships of the Russian Navy acted aggressively against the ships of the Ukrainian Navy, which have been carrying out a scheduled transition from Odesa port to Mariupol port in the Sea of Azov.  The Verkhovna Rada adopted the draft law approving as a whole a presidential decree on the imposition of martial law in Ukraine.
