Ukraine is losing not only the workforce but also a part of an active population due to a labor migration. Because of it, in the near future, the country might turn to “the land of pensioners,” as Obozrevatel agency reported. In just a few months since its creation, the online platform UkrainianPeopleLeaks.com recorded 350,000 people who left the country, as the agency reports.
On the site, it is possible to track online how many Ukrainians leave the country in search of a better life. The authorship of the UkrainianPeopleLeaks.com platform is unknown. The name is consonant with the WikiLeaks. It is an international non-profit organization publishing secret information from anonymous sources.
UkrainianPeopleLeaks shows the main consequence of migration, - population decrease. Last year, Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said that about 100,000 Ukrainians leave for work every month. At the same time, the Minister of Social Policy Andriy Reva said that 3.2 million people are in migration, and 9 million people (including their children) were affected by migration.
At the moment, the online platform recorded more than 357 thousand people who left. And every minute this amount increases by two people, the newspaper reports.
As it was reported earlier, the population of Ukraine shrinks because of the labor migration, which often turns into the de facto migration, which means people choose to stay abroad rather than to return to their motherland. The research says that highly-educated Ukrainians go to Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and settle for the work in factories and fields. '39.2 percent of them carry out the most primitive work; 24.7 are involved in the handicraft, and another 16.5 work in the sales area. They earn less than the locals', reads the survey.
