Ukrainian tennis player Lesya Tsurenko reached the WTA final tournament in the Premier category, which takes place in Brisbane, Australia. According to WTA, Tsurenko defeated the world's No.5 Naomi Osaka with a score of 6:2, 6:4.
In the final of the tournament, Ukraine's Tsurenko will meet with the winner of the pair of Karolína Plíšková (Czech Republic) and Donna Vekić (Croatia).
Earlier, Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina won the Open de Caen exhibition tournament in France for the second year in a row.
In the final, the Ukrainian beat her rival from Belarus Aleksandra Sasnovich. She beat her in three sets with the score of 3:6, 6:3, 6:4.
On October 28, Svitolina won in the final of the WTA tournament in Singapore: in a decisive match, the first racket of Ukraine beat American Sloane Stephens with a score of 3:6, 6:2, 6:2.
The Ukrainian won all three matches in the group and came out to the semi-final from the first place. In the first match, Svitolina beat Petra Kvitová from the Czech Republic, and in the second - she beat another representative of the Czech Republic - Karolína Plíšková; in the third – she won against Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki. In the semi-final match, Svitolina played with Dutch player Kiki Bertens and scored 7:5, 6:7 (5:7), 6:4. Eight best tennis players of the year took part in the final tournament of the season. Svitolina participated in such competitions for the second time.
