Ukrainian swimmer Mykhailo Romanchuk has won a bronze medal in men's 800m freestyle at 2020 Olympic Games as the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine reported on Facebook.

“Mykhailo Romanchuk brings Ukraine the fourth bronze at the 2020 Olympic Games! Mykhailo Romanchuk finished the third at the final round of 800m freestyle. The Ukrainian showed time 7.42,33,” the message said.

Another Ukrainian Serhiy Frolov – became the sixth with the time – 7.45,11.

Mykhailo Romanchuk said it took 18 years to win.

“Since I was six when I started to swim and came to my coach Petro Nahirny, with whom I succeeded to reach all results. Of course, it will not happen without him,” the swimmer said.

As we reported, Ukrainian athletes Olena Kostevych and Oleh Omelchuk won bronze at Olympic Games in Tokyo in mixed 10m air pistol, shooting. The Ukrainian mixed couple beat Serbia with a 16:12 score.
