Ukrainian showman Volodymyr Zelensky claims to run for presidency

On his intention to run for the presidency he announced on 1+1 TV channel

Ukrainian showman Volodymyr Zelensky stated on his decision to run for the office of president of Ukraine. He declared this during ‘Evening Quarter’ festive program on the 1+1 TV channel. 

Volodymyr’s video announcement was broadcasted on the 1+1 channel, a few minutes prior to midnight, when the other TV channels were showing the speech of the President Petro Poroshenko. This is why Poroshenko’s New Year address on 1+1 was shown later.

According to Zelensky, every Ukrainian has three options: to live without paying attention to what is going on around, to move to another country in search of a better life, or act like him.  

‘To give it a shot to change something in the country yourself. I have chosen precisely this way,’ the showman said. 

As we reported, the official presidential election campaign kicked off in Ukraine on December 31. The Presidential elections to take place on March 31, 2019.

The pre-election campaigning shall be allowed from the next day after a candidate’s registration and until 0:00, March 29, 2019.

The results of the elections shall be established up to April 10, 2019, inclusively.
