Ukrainian sailors discharged after surviving in ship crash near Turkey

The Ukrainian sailors who suffered in the ship wreck near Turkey were discharged from Samsun City Hospital as Ukraine’s Ambassador to Turkey Andriy Sybyga reported on Twitter.

He also specified that today, on January 10, they met the governor of Samsun.

“The Ukrainian sailors were discharged from the hospital in Samsun city. They met the governor of Samsun in the morning. We express gratitude to the Turkish side for the provided highly professional support and sincere care one more time. The sailors will return to the homeland soon,” the ambassador wrote.

Earlier, a cargo ship under Panama flag, which came from the Russian Azov port, sent a distress signal around 148 km (92 miles) away from the north-eastern Black Sea province Samsun. It was noted that four Ukrainians died as a result, seven were rescued. According to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, the tragedy happened due to a wave hit.

Pavlo Klimkin, the Foreign Minister of Ukraine stated that all possible measures are assumed to return the sailors to Ukraine.
