President Petro Poroshenko visited Senlis during the working visit to France, where he honored memory of the Holodomor victims in Ukraine during 1932-1933 and laid flowers to the memorial plaque. This was reported by the press service of Ukrainian president.
The memorial plaque was installed in Senlis in 2008 on the occasion of the relentless Holodomor fire relay that took place on August 19, 2008 in the cities of France.
The plaque is located in one of the historic city squares — place des Arènes. Magnolia tree was planed near the memorial.
Since then, representatives of Ukrainian embassy, Ukrainian church and Ukrainian community are laying flowers to the memorial plaque every year in November in terms of official events in commemoration of Holodomor anniversary. Innocent victims of the Holodomor are also honored annually in May on the occasion of the Day of Anne of Kiev in Senlis.
Monument to Kyiv princess, who married King Henry I in 1051 and became the Queen of France, is situated at the same square along with the Holodomor Memorial.
