In February next year, for the first time in history, all 15 power units of Ukrainian nuclear power plants will operate simultaneously, Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko announced at the international Atomic Opportunities for Ukraine's Development conference, UNIAN reports.

"We will work with 14 power units, in February it is possible to turn on the 15th power unit. This has never happened before. We have changed our attitude to the generation of nuclear energy," he said.

The head of Enerhoatom Petro Kotin clarified that from about February 1 to 15, 2022, the power unit at Rivne NPP, which is currently being repaired, will be connected to the system.

Thus, in February, all 15 power units of Ukrainian NPPs will operate simultaneously.

As it was reported earlier, mayor of Kyiv Vitaly Klitschko warned inhabitants of the capital about threat of fan power outages in the city.

At the same time, as reported by the press service of Ukrenergo in response to a request of, Kyiv power unit (which includes Kyiv and Kyiv region) is designed in such a way that its power supply is due to both the internal generation of the unit and the external sources.

This approach to network design provides an increased level of reliability of energy supply in the Kyiv power unit.
