“His body with a gunshot wound has just been found in the office. The circumstances are being investigated,” he said.
The information was also confirmed by former MP Ihor Mosiychuk. According to him, Valeriy Davydenko was a defendant in several corruption transactions and criminal proceedings.
According to sources of Ukrainska Pravda news agency, the weapon was found near his body. At the moment, the law enforcement officers arrived at the scene to investigate the incident.
Deputy Interior Minister Anton Herashchenko put a comment on his Facebook page, saying that the MP’s body was found in the toilet.
“The body of MP Valeriy Davydenko was found in the toilet in his own office with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. An investigative police group is working at the scene," the official said in a message.
According to him, at the moment, a complex of urgent investigative measures is being carried out to find out the circumstances of the MP’s death.
“Police and prosecutors will check all possible versions of the tragedy,” Anton Herashchenko summed up.
Valeriy Davydenko was elected to the Parliament of the 9th convocation in 2019 as a non-party self-nominee in the 208th district from Chernihiv region. In December 2019, he became a member of the Dovira deputy group. He worked in the Committee on Economic Development. From May 2013 to March 2014, he served as Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
