While the investigation in Ukraine about deadly police shootout near Kyiv is ongoing, the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov is on a business trip in Ottawa. It was reported by the press service of the National Police.

Duties of the Minister are performed by his deputy Sergey Yarovoy.

It was him who appointed the official investigation of the tragic events in the Kniazhychi village.

Avakov did not comment on the situation.

As it was reported earlier, 5 law enforcement officers were killed in a firefight near Kyiv. It happened due to a confusion, when the special police forces arrived at the scene and took government security service for robbers. Further details are being investigated.
