The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expressed the protests against the extension of the arrest of Roman Sushchenko, the Ukrainian journalist. Mariana Betsa, the spokeswoman of the Foreign Ministry reported this at Twitter.
‘The extension of the detention in the custody of Roman Sushchenko in Russia on the fabricated charges is groundless. We express the protests and demand the release’, Betsa claimed.
As we reported earlier Moscow City Court extended the arrest of Roman Sushchenko, the Ukrainian journalist for two more months. Sushchenko claimed at the session hall that the pressure is put on his advocate Feygin to deprive him of the defense at the Russian courts. Moreover, he conveyed greeting to his family and claimed that everything all right.
The Russian FSB finished the investigation of the case of the illegally detained Roman Sushchenko, the Ukrainian journalist.
The journalist of Ukrinform was detained in Moscow on September 30, 2016. He was accused of espionage. Since that time, Sushchenko has been kept in jail. Ukraine has repeatedly appealed to the Russian Federation with a demand to immediately release the journalist.
