The Verkhovna Rada supported in the first reading bill #4284 on de-Sovietization of the legislation of Ukraine. 264 MPs voted for the draft law.

The document provides for amendments to the Labor Code of Ukraine and the Housing Code of the Ukrainian SSR.

The normative legal acts of the Soviet period are to be cancelled. Acts of state authorities and administration of the USSR of the Ukrainian SSR and (Ukrainian SSR) are recognized as not applicable in Ukraine under the relevant Annexes № 1, 2 to the draft law, except for provisions of these acts that do not contradict the Constitution of Ukraine and the Law of Ukraine "About legal succession of Ukraine" and relate to:

  • sovereignty of Ukraine and its territorial integrity within the current state border of Ukraine, defined by the Constitution and laws of Ukraine, as well as international treaties of Ukraine, the binding nature of which was approved by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine;
  • administrative and territorial structure of Ukraine;
  • definition, awarding, rules of wearing and transfer of orders, medals, decoration ribbon and service ribbon, insignia, honorary titles, titles of the USSR.
