Respublica FEST and Territory ngo, which have been involved in the development of communities in large and small cities of Ukraine for 10 years, launched the project ‘Culture on / off. Digital bridges’ with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation. It aims to develop and promote small regions and villages that have not been affected by urbanization.
As part of the project, the organizers gather talented Ukrainian musicians and artists, and go to the regions. So far, five music videos have been shot for tracks of different bands in five culturally interesting united territorial communities. On July 1, there was a presentation of the first of them – ‘Global Warming’ from the Lviv hip-hop project BRAT.
The video was shot in the Black Island. It is a forgotten town with a long history and interesting cultural heritage. For example, in 1556, King Sigismund II Augustus granted the Magdeburg right to the Black Island. In honor of this event, a fortified castle was built here. And already in the second half of the 18th century Michał Przezdetski built a magnificent palace here. There is also another cultural monument in the town - the Black Island Literary and History Museum of the Ukrainian poet and fabulist Leonid Hlibov.
All other clips of the project will be released on the artists’ Youtube channels by the end of July:
July 7 – ‘forest-steppe (step by steppe)’ by adm: t, shot in Antoniny;
July 21 – Aero by Tik Tu, shot in Samchyky;
July 28 – ‘Goya’ by Zapaska, shot in Zhvanets.
As it was reported earlier, the last episode of the TV series ‘Flash’ about Ukrainian popular music has been released.
