Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Ihor Kuzin spoke about the plans of the Ministry of Health to study the issue of Covid vaccination of children over 5 years of age in the middle of spring of 2022, Kuzin said in an interview with BBC.

"There have been no recommendations from the European Technical Expert Group on the vaccination of children over 5 years of age. That is, such an issue was not considered at the European level. We plan to consider vaccinating children from the age of 5 approximately in April," Kuzin said.

He referred to the experience of other countries, which are already vaccinating children, which shows that it is safe. Coronavirus vaccination prevents premature death, especially against the background of severe somatic diseases, as well as outbreaks in organized groups.

As it was reported, the World Health Organization does not currently recommend universal vaccination of children and adolescents.

However, in the United States, the strain Omicron caused a record hospitalization of children. Most of them are not vaccinated.
