Ukrainian government to monitor tourists activity by data from mobile operators

The Ministry of Economic Development will monitor tourists activity in Ukraine by data from the mobile operators. The proper memorandum on the cooperation was signed between the Economy Ministry and main mobile operators such as Kyivstar, Vodafone and Lifecell as the press service of the ministry reported.

According to Mykhailo Tytarchuk, the Deputy Minister of Economic Development, the statistics information towards the moves of the tourists’ streams all over the country that was received from the mobile operators will allow more efficient and quality monitor the state of affairs in the tourism sphere in Ukraine and build more effective strategies of its development.

The memorandum foresees the provision of the statistics to the Ministry of Economic Development such as the number of the inner tourists, registered mobile communication subscribers that stayed out of the proper region or place of the registration more than two days.

Moreover, the ministry will get the data on the number of entered tourists, foreign mobile subscribers in roaming that were more than a day in Ukraine.

The government will be also provided with the number of the Ukrainian citizens, registered mobile communication subscribers that moved abroad from the specific region. Also, it will get the data on the duration of the stay of tourists in the region.

The statistics should be used only in the impersonal view once a quarter.
