The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs demands that the Russian Federation immediately release the Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko. This was reported on Twitter by the Foreign Ministry press secretary Mariana Betsa.
"The persistent refusal to change the preventive measure once again shows the political engagement exercised by the Russian judicial system. We demand that the Russian Federation stop lawlessness and liberate unreasonably detained Roman Sushchenko,” she wrote.
Roman Sushchenko, the Ukrainain reporter working for Ukrinform news agency, was detained in Russia in early October 2016. The Russian authorities, specifically the Foreign Ministry and the FSB, the federal security service, claimed that Sushchenko is agent of Ukraine's reconnaissance who was busted in Russia and detained as a 'spy'.
