The representatives of the Ukrainian communities together with the diplomats have unfurled 30-meter flags on the occasion of the National Flag Day as the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine reported on Facebook.
The blue and yellow flag is waving in the capitals of Europe and all over North America, at the south of Africa, in ancient Petra city in Jordan, at the coast of Persian Gulf, and in the Mexican Teotihuacán valley, in the ancient Baalbek temple complex in Lebanon and famous complex of skyscrapers Flame Towers in Azerbaijan.
“In Greece, the air balloon carried the State Flag of Ukraine over the highest Lake Plastiras; while in Zagreb, our flag was raised at the highest building as the evidence of the strength of mind and invincibility of the Ukrainian people,” the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine reported.
As we reported, annually on August 23, the day before the celebration of Independence Day, Ukraine celebrates National Flag Day. The holiday of the State Flag Day of Ukraine was established in 2004 by decree of the second President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma. In 2009, President Viktor Yushchenko amended Kuchma’s decree by starting the annual official flag-raising ceremony on August 23 all over Ukraine.
