The film ‘This Rain Will Never Stop’ directed by Ukrainian Alina Gorlova, received the Best Film Award at the Iceland Documentary Film Festival. This is the seventh Grand Prix of the film, as State Film Agency of Ukraine reports.
“The festival takes place in the amazing town of Akranes, on the west coast of Iceland. It is a small town, but the festival aims to show its residents the newest documentaries. The director of the festival says that she creates it for local audience. I am pleased that viewers there were able to see our film offline and witnessed a completely different world. Because that is the aim of documentary for me - to get to know this world through cinema,” Ukrainian film's director said.
‘This Rain Will Never Stop’ is a powerful and visually impressive journey of 20-year-old Andriy Suleyman and his family in the endless cycle of war and peace. The protagonist of the film, who moved with his father from Syria, is facing another military conflict in Ukraine, where he is a Red Cross volunteer. After his father's death, Andriy decides to bury his body in Syria.
As it was reported earlier, ‘This Rain Will Never Stop’ won the Best Film Award at One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival.
