Ukrainian film Mother of Apostles wins awards at festivals in Canada, US

Ukrainian film Mother of Apostles directed by Zaza Buadze received recognition at festivals in Canada and the USA. The past weekend brought the authors of picture five international awards, according to the Ukrainian state film agency.

Thus, at Ontario International Film Festival ONIFF, which took place in Toronto, the Ukrainian movie was presented in the international program and received four awards:

  • Best movie director - Zaza Buadze
  • Best cameraman – Oleksandr Zemlyany
  • Best actress – Natalia Polovynka
  • Best supporting actor – Bohdan Benyuk.

At the New York Film Week (NYFW) in the US, the work of the main role of Natalia Polovynka at the Mother of Apostles was recognized as the Best acting work.

Mother of Apostles is a war drama. It tells the story of the endless mother's love. When her son is in danger, mother rushes to the rescue. She's ready to do whatever it takes to save the child, even to endure the hell of war. The picture is based on the real events that took place during combat actions in eastern Ukraine in 2014.

As we reported, Ukrainian Oscar Committee has chosen a movie to represent Ukraine at the 94th Oscars of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the Best International Feature Film category. It will be a film by Natalia Vorozhbyt “Bad Roads”.
