Drama film by Valentyn Vasyanovych Black Level will be presented in the competition program of the Cottbus Film Festival, which is the main venue for the films produced in Eastern Europe, according to the press release by Art-house Traffic.

The movie is to compete for the award for the best feature film.

This August, Black Level was chosen as Ukraine’s submission to the Foreign Language Film Award of the 90th Annual Academy Awards. The world premiere was held at the Odesa International Film Festival, where the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) named the movie the best Ukrainian feature-length film.

The film tells the story of 50-year-old wedding photographer Kostya, who is going through a midlife crisis after his father is paralyzed by a stroke and his girlfriend leaves him.
