Diplomats aren’t allowed to visit the Ukrainian border guards, who were recently detained by the Russian Security Service, as UNIAN informs linking to their source in the State Border Guard Service.

At the moment the Consul of Ukraine in Russia is trying to get in touch with the detainees, but he is denied, with an explanation that the detained haven’t been identified yet.

“The consul tried to get a meeting. But now due to incomprehensible circumstance, the Russian party refused to let the consul meet our border guards. I hope that in the next few days the meeting will take place and the situation will get clearer,” Deputy Head of the State Border Guard Service Vasyl Sverstiuk said.

As we reported earlier, two Ukrainian border guards disappeared on the Ukrainian-Russian border. Later on, Russia confirmed they had detained the border guards
