‘Canada should use its experience and announce to the world community about the readiness to head the UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas. Ottawa should determine the needs, scale and activity resources for the full-fledged and efficient peacekeeping mission in the East of Ukraine’, Grod noted.
According to him, the essential presence of the Canadian military in Ukraine allows Canada to start this immediately. Gorod also emphasized the necessity to supply Ukraine with the lethal-weapons.
As it was reported earlier Kurt Volker, the US Special Envoy to Ukraine and Vladislav Surkov, the Counselor of Russian president discussed all topical issues on the settlement of the Donbas conflict, including the issue of the UN peacekeepers in Belgrade on November 13. Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson of Russian president reported this.
Earlier, Surkov claimed in the result of the meeting with Volker that the US proposed addendum to the Russian draft resolution on the UN mission in Donbas. Particularly, the American side offered to add 29 points to the draft resolution but Russia accepted only 3 of them.
