Pupils of the Exemplary children's chorus ‘Gloria’ from Zhytomyr won the 45th international song festival in the Czech city of Olomouc. This was announced by artistic administrator and director of the collective, Honored Artist of Ukraine Natalia Klymenko, reports Ukrinform.
"In total, 33 performance ensembles from different countries took part in the competition, including eight children's choirs representing Slovenia, Turkey, Hungary, Ukraine and the Czech Republic. Our chorus was the only participant from Ukraine. The contestants in our nomination were very interesting, but nevertheless ‘Gloria’ chorus performed brilliantly - we took 96.7 points out of a hundred possible, the audience applauded and shouted ‘Bravo’ to us, although in principle it is not common at such competitions. 10 years ago we already took part in this festival - and also took ‘gold’,” Klymenko said.
In total about 60 children from the age of nine to sixteen sing in Gloria chorus. But only 31 vocalists went to the contest in the Czech Republic this time. However, this did not prevent the performers from Zhytomyr from becoming triumphant, having performed a complex program of four pieces.
During half a year ‘Gloria’ chorus won five gold medals and two Grand Prix competitions of various levels.
In addition, after winning the festival in the Czech Republic, the Zhytomyr collective also successfully performed in France.
“After Olomouc, we also performed at a youth festival in Belfort, in which 6,000 participants from five continents of the world took part. There ‘Gloria’ sang in the central church - the concerts lasted 50 minutes each day. While we were singing, huge queues of those who wanted to listen to us gathered in the square, and people were sitting on the floor during the performance, " Klymenko added.
On the holiday of the Trinity, the Zhytomyr choir ‘Gloria’ was invited to participate in the Catholic mass in French church. During this event our singers sang among the other songs ‘The Prayer for Ukraine’.
