Ukrainian athletes win gold, silver awards at shot put at Paralympics

The men’s shot put has finished at the Summer Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

Ukrainian Maksym Koval has won the competition with the world record. He put the how with the result 17.34 meters. Another Ukrainian Oleksandr Yarovy has won the silver medal. Greek Efstratios Nikolaidis occupied third place.

As of now, Ukraine has 67 medals – 15 gold, 33 silver, and 19 bronze, and occupies fifth place.

As we reported, Ukrainian athletes won two gold medals at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo on August 29. Ukrainian athlete Oksana Zubkovska became the gold medalist of the Paralympic Games in the long jump. Roman Poliansky received a gold medal in rowing. He covered the distance of 2,000 meters in 9 minutes 48.78 seconds, 12 seconds ahead of his closest rival from Australia. 

The 2020 Paralympic Games have started in Tokyo on August 24. The games will last from August 24 until September 5, 2021. About 4,400 athletes from 160 countries participate in the Paralympic Games.

About a hundred athletes come to Tokyo Paralympics from Ukraine. They participate in different competitions, particularly, archery, paracanoe, shooting, table tennis, and others. The biggest team in the Ukrainian Paralympic team is swimmers – 40 athletes.
