In the session of the Consultative Committee of presidents of Ukraine and Poland, which is to be held today in Krakow, sensitive issues of culture and history will be discussed in order to prevent the politicization of history, Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on foreign affairs Hanna Hopko told 112.
“Apart from bilateral issues, historical issues are also intricate. We would like to discuss the upcoming Eastern Partnership summit, Poland’s support, and its vision. Apart from that, it’s important to discuss cooperation between the two countries in the UN Security Council and all the issues concerning security component of peaceful resolution of the conflict in the East. We are also expecting that Poland, as it was stated and agreed, will continue supporting Ukraine. This is why we think it’s important to focus on all sensitive issues of history and culture while discussing this path,” Hopko said.
She also said the presidents would discuss mutually beneficial issues of economics, energy, blockade of the Nord Stream-2, security, and enhancing the defence capabilities of Ukraine and Poland.
Previously Polish President Andrzej Duda said that acceptance of the historical truth is very important for the building of the good neighborly relations between Ukraine and Poland.
