Ukraine's Security Service to reveal information on "Wagner" activity in Sudan

Ukraine’s Security Service will soon reveal information about the criminal activity of “secret” hybrid projects of Russian military intelligence in Sudan, including those of “Wagner” members, who earlier participated in combat actions in Ukraine, as the press office of SBU reported.

“The materials the Security Service has show that since December 2017, the armed contingent of the so-called “Wagner” consisting of 300 people is located in Sudan. The majority of them had participated in combat actions in Ukraine,” SBU reported.

The press centre of the Ukrainian establishment reminded that Russian Foreign Ministry called the materials of a British media “The Times” on the presence of “Wagner” group a “fake”.

“According to the Russian laws and regulations, the members of “Wagner” group are conducting intelligence tasks in both states in the interest of Russain Defence Ministry and their activity is secret. They are operating under cover of private entities,” the SBU reported.

According to the special service, in Sudan, they use “M Invest” for covering. This company is included in the business empire of Russian businessman Yevgen Pryhozhyn, who has ties with Putin.

“Moreover, SBU has evidence that “Wagner” personnel and arms is being transferred to Sudan and other countries of the region by Russian aviation. Therefore, according to the agreement signed on 30 June, 2018 between “M Invest” and “223rd flying detachment”, Tu-154M planes have completed eight flights from Moscow to Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, and to other African countries from this city,” the message says.

Therefore, Russian military command is conducting rotation of the personnel of mercenaries in Syria, Africa regularly (every two months). Sudan is used as a transit route for arms trafficking and personnel to the African countries.

“No doubts left that the so-called “Wagner” group” is a hybrid project of Russian military intelligence, which units break up democratic protests in Sudan,” as SBU Head Hrytsak said.

According to him, such Moscow’s decisions might be aimed at support of Omar al-Bashir. International Criminal Code issued the arrest warrant for al-Bashir in 2009 on charges of genocide of civil population.

In this regard, Ukraine’s Security Service will reveal additional materials about activities of “secret” Russian units in Sudan.
