Since the beginning of 2020, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) opened 47 criminal proceedings concerning the corruption at the customs office and confiscated smuggling for the sum of 204 million hryvnias ($7.23 million) as the SBU reported.

“Since the beginning of the year, the Security Service of Ukraine confiscated contraband articles and detected the violation of the customs law for 204 million hryvnias ($7.23 million). The confiscations took place within 38 pretrial investigations; the persons of interest were served charges for smuggling,” the message said.

The weapon, banned substances, cultural values, wood, and other things were among the contraband articles.

Recently, the SBU detained the organizer of the channel for trafficking in firearms. People ordered parts on special websites in one of the countries of North America; the delivery services supplied them to Ukraine as sports equipment. The weapon was sold at online auctions in Ukraine.
