Ukraine’s Security Service detains Interior Ministry advisor for taking $30,000 bribery

He demanded the mentioned sum from the owners of the network of the Kyiv pawnshops

The officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) along with the Prosecutor General’s Office (GPU) have exposed on bribery the advisor of the leadership of the Internal Ministry of Ukraine on a voluntary basis as the SBU reported.

The officers established that the advisor supported by the leadership of one of the investigative departments of the National Police demanded $30,000 from the owners of the network of the Kyiv pawnshops through the mediators. “For this sum, he promised to facilitate in the non-prosecution of the workers of the network and stop of the investigative actions within the opened proceedings,” the SBU said.

The mediator was detained in Kyiv during the taking of the bribery. Now, the searches at the place of work and residence take place. The serving of the charges to the official due to abuse of power is considered.

As we reported the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv chose the preventive measure for the second suspect in trying to bribe Yuriy Tymoshenko, the presidential candidate in the elections-2019.

As we reported earlier, Yuriy Tymoshenko, the presidential candidate of Ukraine was suggested almost $200,000 for his withdrawal from the elections.
