The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) has approved of the draft law On the national security of Ukraine, according to the council’s website.
“During the meeting, the members of the NSDC discussed and supported the draft bill On the national security of Ukraine. This law was developed in close cooperation with experts from NATO, the USA, and the European Union in order to bring Ukraine’s legislation in accordance to the standards of NATO member states,” the press service writes.
Once adopted by the parliament, this document is to become the basis for developing and renewing the legislation on national defense and security.
Secretary of the NSDC Oleksandr Turchynov noted that the draft law is aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the activity of all sectors of security and defense and that it’s an important element for defending Ukraine’s sovereignty and countering Russian aggression.
