The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine filed charges against Oleksandr Lavrynovych, the former Justice Minister to the court as the press service of the office reported.

The Special Investigation Office of the Special Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine finished the investigation and filed the charges against former Justice Minister to the court’, the message said.

Lavrynovych is accused of the seizure of the State power in association with others (including Viktor Yanukovych) and in his interests, including the assume of the measures for the illegal, without the permission of any legislative authority of Ukraine – the Verkhovna Rada, change of the current Constitution of Ukraine that led to the extension of the authorities of the Ukrainian president by the illegal way.

The pretrial investigation against other suspected in this case (Viktor Yanukovych and the former Deputy Justice Minister) is stopped now as they are on the wanted list. It was also chosen to detain the former Deputy Justice Minister.

The investigation against other suspected in this case continues.

On September 15, 2017, Pechersk Court of Kyiv arrested Lavrynovych for two months. On September 19, his lawyer Yevhen Solodko filed an appeal on the court decision on the arrest. On September 27, the Appeal Court of Kyiv revoked the arrest of Lavrynovych.

The Prosecutor General’s Office suspects Lavrynovych and fugitive-president Viktor Yanukovych in the seizure of the power in 2010.

Lavrynovych did not plead guilty and claimed that he fulfilled his duties.
