Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko filed for resignation from the office. The press secretary of Prosecutor General Larysa Sargan reported this on her Facebook page.

“Yuriy Lutsenko signed a letter of resignation from the office of Prosecutor General addressed to President Zelensky,” Sargan wrote.

Earlier, Yuriy Lutsenko stated that he saw “neither moral nor legal” grounds for his resignation, but he was “ready for this.”

Lutsenko said he wanted to join Zelensky's team.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky appealed once more to the Verkhovna Rada with the urge to dismiss Yuriy Lutsenko from the post of the Prosecutor General. 

Rally demanding the resignation of Lutsenko, Avakov held in Kyiv on May 14. The protesters demanded resignation  of Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko and Interior Minister Arsen Avakov. The Interior Ministry noted that “there were no clashes,” when asked about whether there were clashes involving the protesters under the ministry's building.
