Ukraine’s Parliament adopted the presidential bill No. 0206 on termination of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership with Russia. 277 MPs upheld the document, with 226 votes necessary to pass.
112 Ukraine broadcasted the session.
Given Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, the lawmakers ruled to stop the operation of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership with Russia since April 1, 2019.
“The termination of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership with Russia exempts Ukraine from any obligation on its implementation and does not influence the rights, commitments and legal status of Ukraine, which occurred as a result of the execution of the treaty till its termination according to Article 70 of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties,” the text of the bill says.
