Ukraine’s parliament postpones fines for owners of EU license plates cars for another 90 days

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the bill #1030, which delays the application of the fines for the owners of the vehicles with the European license plates for 90 days as 112 Ukraine reported.

The bill supposed to extend the term of entry into force of the norm on fines for owner of the bonded cars with European license plates for 90 days (up to November 19).

On July 13, 2018, Verkhovna Rada supported a bill providing for increased responsibility for breaching the rules of car import to Ukraine. The document establishes a single term for sanctions for customs rules breach, - half a year since the day of detection of the violation.

On October 22, the Supreme Court of Ukraine recognized the termless use of the cars with the EU license plates imported in the regime of transit as legal. Later, the State Fiscal Service claimed that the use of the uncustomed cars is still a violation of the law.

In August 2019, Deputy Head of the President’s Office Ruslan Ryaboshapka stated that fines for owners of the vehicles with the European car plates are postponed for another three months.

The new fines were implemented for the violation of the import of the cars under customs regimes of the temporary importation and transit starting from August 22. However, the police officers do no fine the owners yet.
