Ukraine’s Parliament invited the leadership of the National Police, General Prosecutor’s Office and Security Service of Ukraine to hear the report on the investigation of the attack on Kateryna Handziuk. 222 people’s deputies voted for, 150 votes would be enough.
“Due to the tragic death of Kateryna Handziuk and the necessity for a detailed investigation of this crime, there is a proposal to invite the leaders of the law enforcement agencies to the plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada and hear the information on the status of investigations of attacks against social activists. It is proposed (to invite, -ed.) the leaders of the National Police, General Prosecutor’s Office and Security Service of Ukraine,” Andriy Parubiy, Speaker of Ukrainian Parliament, said.
The hearing of the report started at 12:30 pm Kyiv time.
As it was reported, on November 4, Kateryna Handziuk, Kherson Mayor Advisor, died at the age of 34. She was doused with sulphuric acid in July this year. Preliminary, she died because of a blood clot detachment.
President Petro Poroshenko expressed condolences on the death of the official. He also demanded the law enforcers do everything possible to punish the murderers.
The police promised that they would give a legal qualification after the conclusions of the expert examinations concerning the cause of death.
367 people were questioned on Handziuk’s case. Police expect that the detained perpetrators will give additional information about the instigators of the crime.
